No learning mentor

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Dear Parents,

Staffing

I am writing to let you all know that Mrs Gandy will be off for some time while her knee gets sorted.

This means that we have no learning mentors to support our work and to be there for you if you need to talk to someone.

Mr Portman and Mrs Brown will be at the school gate and around the reception area each morning.

It at other times you wish to speak to someone, please make an appointment with myself or Mrs Tatham.

Could I please remind you that we have a zero tolerance policy around parents who choose to be threatening or abusive to other parents or to children in other families. If you do feel angry about something, it is much better if you tell a member of staff who can investigate. The member of staff needs to be told in a calm manner.

Thank you for your help with this

Yours sincerely

Election of Parent Governor – One Vacancy

Monday, January 16th, 2012

I am writing to inform you that one parent governor is required to fill a place on the Governing Body of this school. This is because one Parent Governor have completed their term of office.

As a parent of a child at the school you are entitled to stand as a candidate and vote in any election which may become necessary. A nomination slip is attached and if you wish to offer yourself as a candidate to become a parent governor, you should complete the slip below and return it to the Headteacher by 3.05 p.m. on Monday 23 January 2012. If the Headteacher receives only one nomination then that parent will be declared automatically. If there are two or more, then a ballot of all parents will be held to fill the vacancies.

Parent Governors can participate positively in the running of the school along with other local people. No special qualifications are required other than a commitment to the success of the school. Meetings are held about five times per year, in school. Once appointed, governors normally serve for four years, but they may resign sooner if they wish. The Education Department does offer training and support for governors so no parent should feel deterred from putting themselves forward as a school governor.

Please do give some thought to standing as a parent governor.

Yours sincerely
C Hindmarch
Headteacher

Happy New Year 2012

Monday, January 16th, 2012

I hope that you have all enjoyed the holidays. We are glad to see the children
back and are looking forward to the year ahead.

I wanted to start by telling you some not so happy news and that is, that Miss Harrison is leaving on Friday this week. Many of you will have known Miss Harrison for many years and will agree with me that she will be a huge loss to the school. I would be really pleased if you could come and say goodbye in Friday’s assembly. This will be at half past 9 (bring tissues!)

Other things:

  • Mrs Webb will be continuing to share the teaching in Y1with Ms Maxfield until the end of the school year.
  • We have a vacancy for a Parent Governor. Please let me know if you would like to know more about what this involves.
  • We will be starting a banding system at lunchtimes from next Monday. This just means that children can choose from one of 2 meals every day. The menu has been improved with the help of the children, so if you would like to change to school dinners let us know!
  • Please make sure we have your contact details as well as an emergency number should we need to ring.
  • Our next and last training day is February 20th.
  • Our school’s New Year’s resolution is to come to school every day and to come on time. We do need to improve attendance – it’s so important. Please work with us and the children to improve on this.
  • Uniform-some children have not come back in uniform. Can you ask them to wear black shoes and a red top? Please let us know if we can help.
  • Yours sincerely
