Safer Internet Day 2012

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Dear Parents,

Safer Internet Day Tuesday 7th Feb 2012

As you know, we are working with the children to help them to be safe at school and in the outside world.

Could you help by talking to your children about being safe online?

I have sent for everyone, a booklet for parents which has lots of advice and information in it. If it is too much for you and you get confused or have any questions, please come and ask me for help!

We often teach children and remind them how important it is to be safe online. We will be doing more of this this week.

Yours sincerely

No learning mentor

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Dear Parents,

Staffing

I am writing to let you all know that Mrs Gandy will be off for some time while her knee gets sorted.

This means that we have no learning mentors to support our work and to be there for you if you need to talk to someone.

Mr Portman and Mrs Brown will be at the school gate and around the reception area each morning.

It at other times you wish to speak to someone, please make an appointment with myself or Mrs Tatham.

Could I please remind you that we have a zero tolerance policy around parents who choose to be threatening or abusive to other parents or to children in other families. If you do feel angry about something, it is much better if you tell a member of staff who can investigate. The member of staff needs to be told in a calm manner.

Thank you for your help with this

Yours sincerely

Election of Parent Governor – One Vacancy

Monday, January 16th, 2012

I am writing to inform you that one parent governor is required to fill a place on the Governing Body of this school. This is because one Parent Governor have completed their term of office.

As a parent of a child at the school you are entitled to stand as a candidate and vote in any election which may become necessary. A nomination slip is attached and if you wish to offer yourself as a candidate to become a parent governor, you should complete the slip below and return it to the Headteacher by 3.05 p.m. on Monday 23 January 2012. If the Headteacher receives only one nomination then that parent will be declared automatically. If there are two or more, then a ballot of all parents will be held to fill the vacancies.

Parent Governors can participate positively in the running of the school along with other local people. No special qualifications are required other than a commitment to the success of the school. Meetings are held about five times per year, in school. Once appointed, governors normally serve for four years, but they may resign sooner if they wish. The Education Department does offer training and support for governors so no parent should feel deterred from putting themselves forward as a school governor.

Please do give some thought to standing as a parent governor.

Yours sincerely
C Hindmarch
