Firstly, I would like to thank those of you who came to parents evening last week. It was a horrible night with the rain wasn’t it? If you couldn’t make it, and would like an appointment to see your child’s teacher, please let us know.
Computers at home
From the sample of 56 parents:
88% have a computer and access to the internet at home.
89% of you know how to keep your children safe online.
25% of you did not know how we teach children to be safe online.
What we need to tell you and what we will do next
- We need to make sure that we can let children use computers at school if they do not have access at home. We will set up learning clubs. In September, children will be able to see their homework online.
- We need to tell you that every class this year has done a lot of work about being safe online-maybe your child has not told you about this? Our November 2011 anti-bullying week had a special theme around e-safety and cyberbullying. Like many things, we like to do things more than once so that children do their best learning. So, in February, I wrote and told you about our Safer Intermet Day work. You may remember that I sent a booklet home for parents which is on our school website. We have also had assemblies about being safe online – KS2 have had 2 assemblies and listened to me and to a Policeman about this.
- We’ll make sure we keep going with all this work as happy and safe learners are very important to us!
Equality Survey- I am going to write a separate letter about this very important survey. You will get this on 4th May.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs C Hindmarch
