Equality and Computers at Home Surveys

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

Firstly, I would like to thank those of you who came to parents evening last week. It was a horrible night with the rain wasn’t it? If you couldn’t make it, and would like an appointment to see your child’s teacher, please let us know.

Computers at home
From the sample of 56 parents:
88% have a computer and access to the internet at home.
89% of you know how to keep your children safe online.
25% of you did not know how we teach children to be safe online.

What we need to tell you and what we will do next

  • We need to make sure that we can let children use computers at school if they do not have access at home. We will set up learning clubs. In September, children will be able to see their homework online.
  • We need to tell you that every class this year has done a lot of work about being safe online-maybe your child has not told you about this? Our November 2011 anti-bullying week had a special theme around e-safety and cyberbullying. Like many things, we like to do things more than once so that children do their best learning. So, in February, I wrote and told you about our Safer Intermet Day work. You may remember that I sent a booklet home for parents which is on our school website. We have also had assemblies about being safe online – KS2 have had 2 assemblies and listened to me and to a Policeman about this.
  • We’ll make sure we keep going with all this work as happy and safe learners are very important to us!

Equality Survey- I am going to write a separate letter about this very important survey. You will get this on 4th May.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs C Hindmarch

Trip to Doncaster Wildlife Park

Friday, April 27th, 2012

We are very excited to be going on our trip on Tuesday. I just wanted to let you know that:

  • Suncream won’t be needed !!!!!
  • Children should definitely bring a coat
  • Children MUST wear trousers and a long sleeved top if they want to play in the Play Barn
  • Breakfast club will run between 8-8:30
  • The walking bus will pick children up at the usual time
  • Children should arrive on the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds between 8:20 and 8:30
  • We need to register the children at 8:30
  • We need to be on the buses and ready to go at 9 at the latest.
  • We will be back at 3 and you should wait for the children in your usual place.
  • Children must not bring spending money.

I am sure that you will join me in thanking Mrs. Tatham and Mrs. McElwee and the staff and volunteers for making this trip happen.

Mrs. Tatham will do an assembly on Monday to help the children to have a safe and happy day.

The trip to the Wildlife Park will help us with our learning challenges about living things. You’re sure to hear more about this learning when we get back!

Please let us know if you have any questions about our trip.

Yours sincerely,
Mrs C Hindmarch

Start of the day and end of term

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

I am worried that children are coming to school way before breakfast club starts. This means that children are running around the car park as staff and visitors are arriving in cars. This is not safe and we cannot be responsible if there was an accident.

Please could you help by making sure that your child or children know how to be safe if they are walking up without an adult? Breakfast club starts at 8 and children should not be here before then. Children in KS1 should be brought by an adult.

The end of term is soon upon us. The children have lots of learning to do before then, so we need to make sure that they come every day and that they are on time. Could you help us to make sure that ALL children are wearing uniform? If you are about to buy shoes for summer, please make sure that they are black shoes.

Schools closes at 1:30 pm on Friday March 30th. Children should wear uniform that day. Please make your arrangements to pick your child/children up early that day.

We come back on Monday 16th April.

Yours sincerely
