All sorts!

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

We’ve already made it into another half term-dark mornings and dark nights, Christmas and all!! Which reminds me… please help us at school by reminding your children about being safe in the dark- on the roads and especially at this time of year, when fireworks get thrown. It’s also important to tell them to let you know where they are/who they are with and when they will be home-not to talk to people on their way home/to school that they don’t know.

My 2nd bit is to remind you about some of my nags:

  • No dogs in the school grounds please.
  • Can ALL children wear uniform?

No more nags!

Thank you to parents and family friends who joined in with the Big Draw event in the hall on Tuesday. I am very grateful to Mrs Maxfield for making this happen for you and your children.

Our next training day is on Friday 2nd December. You may also know that there is a planned union strike on Wednesday 30th November? I will let you know quite soon how that might affect our school.

Our plans for bad weather will stay as they were last year. We will try to stay open where possible. I do have to make this decision at 6 o clock in the morning and will try to do the ‘right’ thing. Please listen/go online for news of school closure with Radio Aire or Radio Leeds. The council’s website will have information on it too.

See you all at Parents Evening next Wednesday.

Yours sincerely
Mrs C Hindmarch

Dear Parents

It doesn’t seem a minute since we welcomed the children back in September! There’s lots to tell you:

  • School shuts for half term tomorrow 22nd October. It’s non uniform day to raise money for the victims of the floods in Pakistan. We would welcome a 50p donation.
  • We have a training day on Monday 1st November, so the children are back to school on Tuesday 2nd Nov
  • Parents Evening is on Wednesday 3rd November – let’s see if we can beat last year’s record turn out of parents. Please help by filling in the parent questionnaire that night. If you can’t make it, please speak to the class teacher and see if you could meet another time.
  • There’s 7 busy weeks up until Christmas. We finish on Friday 17th December at 1:30 p.m. We’ll let you know dates for concerts and parties very soon.
  • Mel has retired but we hope to have a new caretaker before too long.
  • We have welcomed Mrs Finch to work in Reception.
  • Most children are wearing the school uniform. I would like all children to come to school after half term wearing black shoes or boots. They will have had their school PE kit washed.
  • Lots of you have been invited to our Star of the Week assemblies and it’s been lovely to have you with us to help make the children feel proud and special
  • We’ve had some great support from you with our new behaviour policy. I know that you’ve
welcomed more contact with class teachers
  • 108 children have had 100% attendance during October. This is fantastic and we hope that more and more children will come to school every day and be on time. There’s too much going on here that they will miss otherwise! This includes: exciting topic work/help with reading/drumming days/theatre visitors/special assemblies/after school clubs

Yours sincerely

Christmas weather

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

We are all hoping for a white Christmas. But if it snows before then, this is what happens if the Head decides to close the school:

Radio Aire and Radio Leeds will read out our school’s name. You could also check Education Leeds to see if our school is on the list of those closed.
